Susan Porto, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

Philosophy

I believe that the role of the doctor is that of educator. I try to educate and inform my patients to help them make the health care choices that are best for them.

Biography

Dr. Susan Porto received her Bachelor of Science, with Magna Cum Laude distinction, and Doctor of Medicine at Loyola University.  Dr. Porto completed her residency at the University of Illinois.  After her residency she practiced for 8 years with a private OB/GYN group in Riverside, IL where she was a Clinical Instructor for OB/GYN and Family Practice Residency programs.  She then moved on to practice at Alivio Medical Center where she implemented a Diabetes in Pregnancy Program, provided high-risk consultation and back-up to a large midwifery practice, and was a member of Quality Improvement and Peer Review/ Credentials Committees of Community HealthCare Choice HMO.  After her time at Alivio, Dr. Porto joined Chicago Women’s HealthCare, SC and Mercy Hospital and Medical Center where she was the chairman for the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as the Residency Program Director.  

Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Porto is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists, member of the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Council of Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Society of Colposcopists and Cervical Pathologists, and the Price–Pottenger Nutrition Foundation.  She has been an active member of several hospital committees in both Mercy and Vanguard MacNeal. She has received awards for outstanding service and teaching, lectured on several women’s health issues, and has been a contributor to pregnancy publications.  

Dr. Porto is a fluent Spanish speaking OB/GYN specialist serving patients in Riverside and throughout Chicago.
